Hey Entrepreneurs,
Since this will be the First PEN Mixer to be hosted.. we request all Members to get their Visiting Cards (ample) and be ready to Mix with other members. Tell them about your company/work/profession/ambition etc. Keep it simple and be open to ideas as well!

I also request members who have been to previous iEC Networking Mixers to get along their friends/collegues/partners to this event and introduce them to the World of Business Networking. There will be a round of introductions, where you could talk for 2 mins basically on yourself, company or product and what brings you to PEN?

If you have any questions, Feel Free to contact me anytime.

Looking forward to a Great Mixer!

Cheers..

P.s. For event details follow Link on PEN Homepage or go to Ryze Events and Look for "Events in Pune".

Aug 06, 2007 2:51 pmTip #2: Update your Network Membership Settings#

Shrinath Navghane
In continuation to our thread to make the networking experience better for our members, this is One Serious Tip all active and passive networkers should follow!

Update your Network Membership to Pune Entrepreneurs Network

As a Network Leader, its my duty to see that members get maximum out of PEN and the frequent updates that I send to all Members via a Automated Group Mailing system is the key to being “connected” to everything happening in and around and even beyond PEN. Most common updates are Mixer Announcements, Important Events that can interest you, Threads, Information, Competitions and etc.

Although most members have enabled this option, others seem to have removed it so as to not receive the updates. I suggest them to immediately do the following:

1. Go to “Networks” Tab on your Ryze Page.
2. Click on “Edit” next to “Your Networks”
3. On the next Page… scroll down to # Pune Entrepreneurs Network #
4. Select the First Tick under “Let Leader Send me Emails” and
5. Click on “Update Membership Settings” Button
You are done!

Please let me know if you have any questions or doubts about Networking.

Cheers!

The True meaning of R.S.V.P.

Let's Clear Up the Confusion

I hope that this week's tip will benefit hosts and guests alike, because there seems to be a lot of confusion about the meaning of the above term.

Lack of RSVP's - A Growing Problem

I hear more and more often, and have found in my personal experience, that hosts often do not receive firm indications whether guests plan to attend their parties, even if R.S.V.P. is clearly printed on the invitation. This could mean either one of two things. First it could mean that rudeness is a growing trend in our society. Or, as I would prefer to believe, people no longer understand what the term means. Assuming the best, and that the decline in R.S.V.P.'s can be attributed to ignorance and not rudeness, I will clarify this for the record.

What RSVP Means

The term R.S.V.P. comes from the French expression "répondez s'il vous plaît", meaning "please respond".

If R.S.V.P. is written on an invitation it means the invited guest must tell the host whether or not they plan to attend the party. It does not mean to respond only if you're coming, and it does not mean respond only if you're not coming (the expression "regrets only" is reserved for that instance). It means the host needs a definite head count for the planned event, and needs it by the date specified on the invitation.

Why It's Inconsiderate to Not RSVP

An incomplete list of respondents can cause numerous problems for a host including difficulty in planning food quantities, issues relating to minimum guarantees with catering halls, uncertainty over the number of party favors and difficulties in planning appropriate seating, among other things.

So the next time you see R.S.V.P. on an invitation you receive, please call your host and respond promptly.

So we request PEN Members to take Networking Mixer RSVP's seriously.

Several members have been asking us about "Members Directory" or some kind of Email and SMS database of Pune Entrepreneurs Network. So that they can promote their brand, new office or launch a product directly.

Our replies have been swift "No" in this regard and if members have taken it harshly, then we need to clarify the purpose of Pune Entrepreneurs Network.

We do not provide any mass-mailing capabilities at this point because PEN Forums is not designed for this purpose. Pune Entrepreneurs is a tool that facilitates relationships and enables communication on a one-to-one basis. In the future, we or our partners may offer additional group communication options to group moderators only, as applicable on our other platforms such as Google & Xing.

Members are encouraged to be "active" part of the forums and reap the long term benefits of helping members and vice-versa. This is the basic ideology of a "Business Network" which is also explained in our presentation on "10 Commandments of Networking"

Please download this presentation from the PEN Ryze Homepage to get a better idea. The newbies are always curious and can be the potential networking guru's of tomorrow. We will give you 100% support for your activities, but simply cannot allow PEN to be used as a mass-mailing/messaging platform.

Lets Network progressively and competently!
