Bilcare to spend Rs 1 billion on 25 training centers
The Pune based pharmaceutical packaging materials manufacturer Bilcare plans to invest Rs 1 billion to mark its foray into medical education sector by setting up training centers for clinical research. The company plans to set up 25 training centers, eight of which will come up in India . Each training center will have about 200 seats. Its first academy has already started operations in Pune.

DLF to develop SEZ in Pune
DLF has announced that its latest SEZ project will open in Pune in December and will be completed in 2009. The Rs. 1000 crores project will spread over 55 acres and will be developed in two phases. DLF plans to develop not only IT SEZs but also normal commercial and residential premises in Pune, keeping in mind the business potential in the region.

Pune to become largest centre for Infosys
With land availability in home-city Bangalore becoming difficult, Pune is set to emerge as the largest centre for Infosys. The Pune centre will have a total seating capacity of 23,581 by March 2008 as against Bangalore's 23,015. This implies that the Pune center will be nearly doubling its seats from the current 10,185 seats.

Siporex India
Siporex India is expanding the capacity of pre-fabricated cement unit from 1,20,000 cubic meters per annum to 2,70,000 cubic meters per annum at Mundhwa in Pune district of Maharashtra. The requited machinery will be sourced from China. Around 15 per cent of the project work has been completed already.

Airports Authority of India to pump in Rs.220cr for Pune International Airport overhaul
Airports Authority of India (AAI) is ready to pump in Rs. 220 crore for an overhaul of the Pune International Airport . Parallel taxiways, aircraft hangars, airport complex expansion and various other minor projects are expected to begin during next six months, for which huge investments have been approved. AAI plans to keep the Airport ready for the International events in Pune.

International Entrepreneur Club launching Germany and Singapore Chapters
IEC, The umbrella forum of Pune Entrepreneurs Network and one of the largest business networking organizations in the world is now launching 2 new offline chapters in Germany and Singapore. These will facilitate increased exchange and real time networking opportunities between individuals, organizations, professionals and traders. Next in line is Malaysia and New York. All these will correspond with Pune Chapter (PEN) and work as incubators for international exchange.

Cummins Generator Technologies to make alternators at Ranjangaon

Cummins Generator Technologies India Ltd. is setting up a new facility at Ranjangaon near Pune to make a smaller range of alternators.  It will start with a capacity of 100 units per day and reach 250 units per day. Products would also be manufactured in China and UK from next year.  Design and development of these products was done at Pune.

 

Mahindra firm plans to export 250 containers of grapes

Mahindra Shubhalabh Services Ltd., a Mahindra Group company, has set a target of exporting 250 containers of grapes (around 3,000 tonnes) in the present grape season 2007-08.   In 2004-05 company had exported 6 containers i.e.72 tonnes, in 2005-06 exported 30 containers and in 2006-07 exported 102 containers.

 

RIL to set up 1,000 MW plant near Pune

Reliance Industries Ltd. is planning to set up a 1,000 MW gas-based power plant in Pune district, either at Talegaon or near Shirur.

 

Sybase opens global Centre in Pune

Sybase Inc., an enterprise software solutions provider, has inaugurated the global Sybase Professional Services (SPS) centre in Pune.  These services have four elements i.e. premium staffing, managed services, solutions and education.  The company also has a research and development centre in the city.
