Do we need to shut Ryze platform for PEN? | Views: 753 |

Shrinath Navghane | | Dear Members,
Lets face it.. Is Ryze really working for us? I mean the Business Networking side of it. We have better platforms on Xing, LinkedIN and other networks now where the technology is helping us do more.
Perhaps the success of a network such as PEN depends on the host platform and unfortunately so we chose Ryze. The website looks dated, lacks many features the new platforms offer and I am sure the membership is on huge decline.
As they say.. The time has come.
We are seriously contemplating shutting down the Ryze platform for all the Pune Entrepreneur Network activities and have already begun shifting databases. Xing is very proactive and so is Google Groups, LinkedIN for IEC etc.
Do let us know your thoughts.. after all we are here for Business Networking and not socials, music, dating et. all entertainment.
Cheers!

Laxmikant Chitare | | Hi Shree,
This is a very critical decision infact. I am not sure if I will be able to provide any concrete decision.
I have been observing more activities on Ryze (for PEN) than on Xing. This may be because we ourself(core team) isn't active on Xing.
Since you have been working closely with Ryze n Xing, I dont have any doubt about your initiative for this move. Lets wait for others to have their word.

Karina Sirimanna Vithanage | | My experience with Xing is much more productive than Ryze. I'm only a member for around one year, but the real business contacts I've got through Ryze I can count on one hand. I don't mind to change from Ryze to Xing as I find this network much more professional and I relay on the huge experience and overview of Shrinath, if he suggests to shift, I can trustingly follow.
Ciao, Karina

Ashish Belagali | | I like the prank, Shri. Enjoy this special day! ;-)
Or, are you really serious?
In any case, I am not pro or anti any particular network. If someone could present a good comparison feature-by-feature of the popular networks then it will help.

Shrinath Navghane | | Thanks Laxmikanth,
I think the Core Team can perform more on Xing as I can add one of the members as part of the Moderation Team, which on IEC is standard for each Chapter and our Bangkok Network just went live too.
Karina,
Thanks for your views... Ryze activity as far as business has really dipped and its now very comparable to classifieds and job portals.
Would like some more comments on this.. maybe members who have been on Ryze as long as me? (Since 2004)
Cheers!

Shrinath Navghane | | Ashish,
I wish it was a April Fools prank.. but sadly its not. I think what we can do is convene a meeting in private in coming week and discuss everything with Core Members and then make a vote. I will try and compile a list of feature information for Xing (the next platform) and how LinkedIN and Google Groups can be used pro-actively.
Cheers!

Inderpal Singh | | Hi, Shri,
I guess I would concur with all that the others are saying. I have got a few business leads from Ryze but these have come mainly from other networks, not from PEN.
Since you are on the other platforms - Xing etc, I guess you would be better equipped to take a call, I go along with you.....
I have also got good networking and business leads from LinkedIn, though I am not sure how it works on a network kind of thing....

Alakaline | | My two cents -
I am very much alive on linkedin - and while it does have its advantages, it's definitely no good when it comes to informal networking or calling a meet. Ryze wins hands down!
